Tale of the Glove

November 3, 2020

I was standing next to a man who was being checked out in a Brooklyn supermarket. He was properly masked and gloved, but his gloves were making life difficult for him. First, his credit card dropped to the floor and he had trouble picking it up. The same thing happened to the paper receipt the cashier gave him. Then he opened his wallet to put in his card and receipt and other things fell out. Bending, grunting, exasperated, he said as he gathered his stuff up, “I could never have been a surgeon! I could have made a lot of money, but it would have turned out badly for the patient.”
