The World of Jeffery Eisenmesser
Workshop Exercise:
Use Assigned Words to Make a Poem
If you are waiting for the Messiah,
And you lean against the city’s gate
Looking out for his tell-tale swirl of distant dust,
You’ll know the Time’s been readied and is ripe
When sights like an embittered Sixties Revolutionary
Astride an unstriped cookie-eating zebra
Cause no tongue to wag, eyes to shine.
For the inhabitants will be hardened to wonders,
And the Messiah will not feel out of place.
