Incident at the Post Office

July 30, 2020

I approached my local Brooklyn post office about 8:30. A line had already formed. People were socially distant, most were properly masked. At 9:00, the gate was raised and we slowly entered. Two clerks were behind the counter, but only one was accepting mail. Seems the other's computer was down. So a long line, only two clerks, and one bloody computer. An older man was visibly upset. He loudly announced that he had a doctor's appointment, and began to denigrate the postal employees. I verbally intervened, asked him if he was aware how deliberately understaffed the Post Office was and how Trump was trying to diminish and/or destroy it. I advised him to contact his President. He stopped shouting, simmered awhile, turned and told me, "Mind your own business!" Actually, it is my business, His, too.
