The World of Jeffery Eisenmesser
A Dream Misplaced
I received a dream in Nazareth.
An unasked for gift in Nazareth.
A proclamation in circus-metaphor:
This dreamer is of the Creative chosen.
Through trapeze in movement,
Elephants in upheaval and
Crowds in attendance
I somehow made my way and proved my worth.
Awakening, I recorded all
Holding close the detailed document in joyous amazement.
Proof, prophecy and source.
I abruptly traded ancients towns
And on journeying to Jerusalem and beyond
Did not forget one passport, but left behind
In a desk’s top drawer
Another:
My proof, my prophecy, my source.
There is punishment reserved
For those who receive a gift of worth
And treat it with carelessness:
Its unfolding shape,
Rich and many-stranded
Has been cut back by Time.
A dream diminished,
Its strength eroded,
A dram becomes illusion.
